Let me tell you how much I love smoothies… If my belly could handle them a little better, I would make them regularly throughout my week. My latest challenge has been figuring out what kind of dysbiosis is going on in my gut, so I’m trying to minimize my fruit intake for now. But that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying them!
Smoothies are a great way to include tons of nutrition into your day. I do advise people to chew their food as much as possible, rather than drink their nutrition, but a balanced smoothie with veggies, fats and proteins can be a nice addition to your diet. Smoothies are an easy way to add a good amount of raw greens packed with vitamins and minerals, and I always like to add my favorite collagen, Vital Proteins. I make them for the kiddos and my husband enjoys them on the regular as well.
My latest love are Blueberry Acai Smoothies. I found these handy frozen acai packets at Trader Joe’s and decided to give them a try. They are delish and make a great addition to any berry smoothie.
Try one yourself and let me know what you think!
Ingredients:
1/2 banana, fresh or frozen
1/4 – 1/2 avocado
1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
1 acai packet
2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk (or milk of your choice)
Directions:
Add ingredients to a high powered blender (Vitamix or Blendtec) and blend until it reaches a consistency of your liking. Add more liquid, either milk or water, if its too thick.
Enjoy!
